Announcement    Welcome to BKco- home of the softest Bamboo Slouchy Hats with a mission to give back to the cancer community.

Since I launched my mission #WrapThemInBamboo in 2018 I have donated over 13,000 Chemo Hats and Headwraps to Women and Children fighting Cancer across Canada, United States and Mexico.

For every Original Slouch Beanie sold I match one for one in donations of Bamboo Chemo hats to Women and Children fighting Cancer.

My wait list for cancer treatment centres to receive my donations is very long. Unfortunately the demand for donations is much higher than the number of hats I sell. I am not currently adding to my wait list at this time.

What inspired me to start #WrapThemInBamboo?

The overwhelming number of messages I received just like this one below from Customers going through Chemotherapy. Before #WrapThemInBamboo messages like this left me feeling discouraged, empty, and horrified that I had made a profit off of their suffering.
These messages always seem to come exactly when I need to hear them. These words broke my heart in half. I cried harder than I have in years. When I finally settled down I could feel the fuel. The determination and justification that I am on the right path, every person diagnosed with Cancer needs a Bamboo hat, and I’m going to make that happen.

“I lost all of my long, thick hair to chemo a couple of weeks after I ordered a pair of your bamboo beanies last February, and for the next six months, until I had enough regrowth to allow me to go hat-less without shame, I wore your beanies all day, every day, to hide my baldness (I never had a wig, just your hats!). They were very soft and comfortable on my sensitive scalp, they washed and dried very well and kept their shape, they helped me hold on to the last shreds of my dignity during cancer treatment, and I can't thank you enough for that. Your hats helped me through the toughest few months of my life, and I am forever grateful for that.
Being diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer at 32 was the very worst thing that had ever happened to me, but your beanies were like a security blanket for me through treatment, I felt so self-conscious and unhappy about my baldness, but having a comfortable way to hide it made it all more bearable. I lived in your beanies until I had hair again, I even slept in them so that my boyfriend wouldn't see my bald head - not another living soul saw me bald because I had a pair of lovely bamboo beanies to wear, and that was so important to me. This diagnosis took all of my dignity and my self-esteem, but your beanies gave me a little bit of those things back so I could get through treatment and come out the other side.” -Breast Cancer Patient age 32

One of the most distressing symptoms of chemotherapy is hair loss. Catching a glimpse of yourself in the mirror is a constant reminder of your illness. For many, it is a symbol to the world that you have cancer.

Here are some of the incredible testimonies I have received:
“I tried wigs, and no way, I feel most like myself and least cancer-y in your Beanies.”
“Your hats have brought my wife a great deal of comfort, she wears them 24/7.”
“The bamboo is so soft, it feels like a hug on my head.”
These people have made an imprint on my heart and have constantly stayed on my mind, and it is my mission to bring comfort to more people fighting Cancer. #wraptheminbamboo
